Finishing School. Starting a Career.

Every developer has a starting place in their life, where a passion for coding and growth is born. I went to school for computer networking. There was no code related information on what I was supposed to do after college. It wasn't until I took a course on PowerShell, that my professor gave us a guide on how to use the terminal and how to actually write batch files and use code to complete the task. Keep in mind that there was no other information or training on this. We just copied the page and passed.

And then it happened. Music was drifting in through my earphones and it was just me and my computer screen, there alone. All of a sudden I felt a wave of peace cover me, and a contentment I had not felt in years, settled over me. This was the moment I knew what I wanted to do with my life. I had started my career as an inbound call tech, with no real world use outside of the company. My vision for the future was much bigger. I needed more. It was the coding that made me feel alive so I revisited the irresistible draw that I had felt a year prior. I was captivated by the flow of how HTML worked and even more spellbound when CSS was added. When I watched people create email templates with HTML and CSS, I knew that was what I had been seeking. I wanted to do that.
